RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Ministry of Trade are strengthening Indonesia’s modest fashion industry through the integration of IN2MOTIONFEST and Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW), as part of efforts to position Indonesia as a global source of inspiration for modest fashion.
Director of the Sharia Economics and Finance Department at BI, Ndari Surjaningsih, said the collaboration aims to strengthen the halal value chain in the modest fashion sector, from developing textile artisans and business operators to improving product quality and expanding access to international markets.
“Standing on a single national stage, we from each institution have agreed to collaborate toward a common goal, namely strengthening Indonesia’s position as a global modest fashion hub,” Ndari said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
According to her, the initiative will strengthen the industry through the development of modest fashion businesses and textile artisans via BI’s regional representative offices, improvements in product quality, and education on modest fashion trends.
Senior Trade Analyst at the Ministry’s Directorate General of National Export Development, Ari Satria, said the collaboration is designed to connect Indonesian modest fashion brands and businesses with international buyers and trade networks.
“This synergy is expected not only to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian modest fashion products in the global market, but also to create opportunities for transactions and business partnerships while sustainably expanding export market access,” Ari said.
He noted that expanding market access is essential as the government seeks to ensure that the modest fashion sector grows not only in creativity but also in production capacity and industrial standards capable of meeting global demand.
Under the IN2MOTIONFEST X JMFW collaboration, business development initiatives include zoned exhibitions, Wastra Business Matching sessions, and buyer programs aimed at opening wholesale and retail access to international markets.
More than 300 designers, brands, MSMEs and members of Indonesia’s Sharia Creative Industry (IKRA) network will participate in a series of fashion shows and trade exhibitions. The products showcased will highlight Indonesian traditional textiles (wastra) and local wisdom as distinguishing features of the country’s sustainable modest fashion products.
The collaboration will also strengthen international connections through the participation of 10 guest designers from India, Malaysia, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Taiwan, South Korea, and the Philippines.
To strengthen industry capacity, the program will feature the Indonesian Modest Fashion Trend Forecasting 2027/2028, masterclasses, workshops, and an Industry Forum & Summit aimed at improving product standards and manufacturing readiness on a larger scale.
BI has been developing the modest fashion sector since 2018 through its Sharia Creative Industry (IKRA) program, which focuses on capacity building, product quality improvement and innovation, ecosystem development, and expanded market access.
IN2MOTIONFEST X JMFW will take place from Oct. 14–18, 2026, at Hall A and the Cendrawasih Hall of the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) in Senayan, Jakarta, as part of the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF).
This year’s event, themed “Indonesia’s Integrated Modest Fashion Ecosystem: Transforming Modest Fashion Brands into Global Business”, focuses on accelerating the ecosystem by integrating government and stakeholder support across the entire value chain. ***
