KADI Launches Investigation Into Imports of Galvanized Steel from China

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee (KADI) has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of galvanized steel, or zinc-coated steel (BJLS), from China. The investigation officially began on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after KADI found an increase in imports of the product that has affected the domestic industry.

KADI Chairperson Frida Adiati said the investigation follows an application submitted by PT Tata Metal Lestari and PT Arcelormittal Nippon Steel Indonesia, representing the domestic industry.

“Based on the results of an assessment of the adequacy and accuracy of the preliminary evidence, KADI found an increase in imports of BJLS from China that has caused injury to the domestic industry,” Frida said, as quoted from an official statement.

Frida explained that from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2025, Indonesia’s total BJLS imports from around the world reached 2,562,407 metric tons. Of that amount, 2,075,801 metric tons, or around 81 percent, came from China.

The BJLS products covered by the investigation fall under several Harmonized System (HS) codes based on the 2022 Indonesian Customs Tariff Book (BTKI). The anti-dumping investigation will be conducted for a maximum of 12 months and may be extended to 18 months if necessary.

The investigation is being conducted in accordance with Government Regulation Number 34 of 2011 on Anti-Dumping Measures, Countervailing Measures, and Trade Safeguard Measures.

“KADI has notified the interested parties of the commencement of the investigation, including the domestic industry, importers, as well as known exporters and producers of BJLS from China,” Frida said.

“The information has also been conveyed to representatives of the Chinese Government in Indonesia and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China,” she added.
