RRI.CO.ID, Bogor — The Indonesian government continues to strengthen national economic resilience by boosting the development of the digital sector, artificial intelligence (AI), and the semiconductor industry amid global uncertainty. This strategic step was taken to maintain a solid economic growth trend while expanding market access at the international level.
Indonesia's economic growth in the first semester of 2026 reached 5.45 percent, with the inflation rate safely maintained at 2.88 percent. This positive achievement was driven by strong downstream investments, stable manufacturing performance, and growing bank credit expansion.
The government has also begun anticipating upcoming economic challenges, including the impact of the El Niño weather phenomenon that could disrupt national food supplies. In addition, the preparation of human resources in high-tech fields such as semiconductors has begun through international cooperation.
“If we look at the emerging risks related to El Niño, this is quite a serious matter that will mainly disrupt demand and availability. The government continues to push policies so that Indonesia's economy grows higher and prospers faster,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained at the 25th ISEI Plenary Meeting & 2026 ISEI National Seminar in Bogor, Thursday, August 27, 2026.
New investment opportunities continue to open up through Indonesia's active involvement in global technology organizations to attract foreign capital. This step is expected to strengthen domestic digital infrastructure, especially the development of data centers and renewable energy ecosystems.
“I also want to share that Indonesia has joined as a founding member of the World AI Collaboration Organization. This will open up AI investment space worth US$8–12 billion from 2026 to 2030. This is a momentum for Indonesia because AI requires data centers,” he said.
Through the optimization of regional cooperation such as the Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), Indonesia is confident in its ability to boost the competitiveness of its digital industry on the global stage. Strengthening cross-border payment systems also complements Indonesia's readiness to face economic competition in the new era.
