RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is moving closer to implementing a major policy shift that will lower the minimum share price from IDR 50 (USD 0,0028) to IDR 1, aimed at broadening transaction opportunities and improving price discovery.
While the trial run has been deemed largely successful, eight brokerage members have yet to take part.
IDX scheduled the trials on August 22 and 29, 2026, across the regular and cash markets, including new auto-rejection classifications, with full implementation targeted for September 7.
President Director Jeffrey Hendrik emphasized that readiness across all brokerage members remains the priority before the policy goes live. “We will adjust according to the preparedness of all members. Ensuring readiness is key before full implementation,” he said in Jakarta on Friday, August 28, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The new policy will effectively remove the long-standing minimum price floor of IDR 50, allowing shares to trade as low as IDR 1. According to Jeffrey, this change is designed to expand liquidity and strengthen price discovery mechanisms in the market.
Ahead of the rollout, IDX held discussions with the Indonesian Securities Companies Association (APEI) and the Indonesian Investment Managers Association (AMII) on August 19, as well as consultations with global investors. Feedback gathered from these sessions will help refine the exchange’s approach and ensure trading platforms are prepared.
The adjustment is expected to give stocks more flexibility in trading ranges, potentially reshaping investor strategies and market dynamics. ***
