RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Confidence among the business community in Batam, Riau Islands, continues to strengthen, according to the head of the Batam Concession Agency (BP Batam), Amsakar Achmad.

Based on BP Batam’s bottom‑up monitoring, realized investment reached IDR 38.97 trillion (approximately USD 2.18 billion) in the first half of 2026.

The figure represents 55.67 percent of Batam’s full‑year investment target of IDR 70 trillion. “Our task is to ensure that this confidence is met with better services, stronger business certainty, and infrastructure development that supports investors’ needs,” Amsakar said in an official statement in Batam on Tuesday, August 18, 2028, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that investment growth should not be assessed solely by the size of capital inflows. Business certainty, fast service delivery, and infrastructure readiness are equally important to sustaining investment momentum.

According to the Investment Activity Report (LKPM), Batam’s realized investment for the same period stood at IDR 29.89 trillion. In the first quarter of 2026, investment reached IDR 17.48 trillion, growing 102.85 percent year‑on‑year -- far exceeding the national investment growth rate of 7.2 percent.

Amsakar said investment performance must translate into real economic impact for Batam. “We must not stop at the numbers. What matters most is ensuring that investment continues to move, projects are realized, jobs are created, industries grow, and a multiplier effect is generated for Batam’s economy,” he said.

The impact is reflected in rising employment. The number of workers increased from 30,979 in the first half of 2025 to 40,943 in the first half of 2026 -- an additional 9,964 workers, or 32.16 percent growth. The increase aligns with several investments that have entered the production phase. ***
