RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian Deputy Minister of Trade, Dyah Roro Esti, launched the export of 3.5 metric tons of salak (snakeskin fruit) produced by PT Bali Organik Subak (BOS) to China. This business agreement was secured during the Indonesian Trade Mission to Shanghai in May 2026.

The export launch took place at The Keranjang Bali in Badung Regency, Bali, on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The value of this initial export reached USD13,000.

Roro said that this salak export launch demonstrates that Indonesia’s local products possess the quality and competitiveness to penetrate international markets. “This also demonstrates that every promotional and trade diplomacy effort must ultimately result in transactions that deliver tangible benefits,” she said.

Roro noted that this success reflects the increasing competitiveness of Indonesia’s flagship commodities in the global market. She mentioned that China rose from third place in 2024 to become the primary export market for Indonesian salak in 2025.

Roro is optimistic that Bali has great potential to become a driving force in national exports. According to her, Bali boasts a diverse range of flagship products, ranging from agricultural and fishery commodities to the creative economy, fashion, and handicrafts.

“We want to build a new narrative that Bali is not merely a world-class tourist destination. Bali must also be recognized as a showcase for Indonesia’s flagship products and a gateway for more national products,” said Roro.

Furthermore, Roro emphasized that export success is inseparable from the coordination of all stakeholders. The government opens market access through trade diplomacy, businesses maintain product quality, while associations and strategic partners strengthen business networks.

The founder of PT BOS, A.A. Gede Wedhatama P., said that exports to China are a follow-up to the Indonesian Trade Mission to Shanghai in May 2026. He also expressed his appreciation for the ministry’s support in opening market access for Balinese salak.

“Through that trade mission, we could meet directly with buyers, reach business agreements, and ultimately realize exports to China. In the future, we expect the ministry to keep opening new market access through trade missions to various countries,” said Gede Wedhatama. (Gusti Panji-EN)
