RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta –Indonesia’s economy grew 5.29 percent year‑on‑year in the second quarter of 2026, easing from 5.61 percent in the first quarter.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at constant prices reached IDR 3,576.2 trillion (USD 199.45 billion), while at current prices it stood at IDR 6,551.1 trillion.

“For the first half of 2026, the economy expanded 5.45 percent, supported by domestic activity,” Deputy for Accounts and Statistical Analysis at the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), M. Edy Mahmud, said during a press briefing in Jakarta on August 5.

From the production side, key drivers of growth included manufacturing, trade, construction, and information and communication, fueled by rising output to meet domestic demand. On the expenditure side, household consumption remained the largest contributor, alongside investment and government spending.

“Consumption was boosted by holiday momentum and national religious celebrations, while investment from both government and private sectors also increased,” Edy explained.

Regionally, the economies of Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, and Sulawesi grew faster than the national average. Bali and Nusa Tenggara recorded the highest growth at 6.10 percent. (Gusti Panji)
