RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Destry Damayanti has urged market participants to remain calm following Perry Warjiyo’s resignation as BI Governor on Sunday, July 26, 2026, for personal reasons.
The government immediately responded by appointing Destry as acting governor. She stressed that the leadership change would not disrupt BI’s operations.
“BI will remain committed to implementing our policies as we have done previously,” Destry said during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 28.
She explained that BI has several critical responsibilities in sustaining Indonesia’s economic growth, including maintaining the stability of the rupiah’s exchange rate.
Destry emphasized that exchange rate stability will remain the focus of BI’s current policy. The central bank will continue market interventions through Domestic Non-Deliverable Forwards (DNDF) and Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDF).
“On the one hand, we will maintain our pro-growth policies through macroprudential measures. These policies remain in place, and leadership at BI is exercised collectively and collegially,” Destry added. (Gusti Panji)
