RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Export growth for fishery products from Batam, Riau Islands, is being accelerated through streamlined licensing and certification services.

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is partnering with the Batam Free Trade Zone and Port Authority (BP Batam) to integrate service systems, making the export process faster and more efficient.

The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) linking the Ministry’s online service system with BP Batam’s licensing application, IBOSS.

“With this MoU, existing regulations can be implemented by all parties to facilitate business operations in Batam,” said Head of Quality Control and Supervision of Marine and Fisheries Products at the Ministry, Ishartini, in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

According to Ishartini, the interconnected system clarifies the division of authority between the Ministry, as the competent authority, and BP Batam, as the administrator of the free trade zone, in line with Government Regulation No. 25/2025. The integration also eliminates duplication in the certification process, allowing exports to proceed more efficiently.

She explained that the issuance of the Certificate of Quality and Safety for Marine and Fisheries Products (SMKHP) now takes only about 10–15 minutes after BP Batam issues the quality assurance documents online. This acceleration is expected to improve services for business operators.

“With this collaboration, I am optimistic that Batam’s fisheries exports will make a significant contribution to both the national and local economies, while also encouraging fisheries businesses to expand their operations,” Ishartini said.

Batam’s fisheries export performance continues to show a positive trend. Export value rose from IDR 203.4 billion (USD 11.28 million) with a volume of 8,790 metric tons in 2024 to IDR 226.7 billion with a volume of 8,858 metric tons in 2025. As of June 2026, the figure stood at IDR 48.7 billion with a volume of 1,786 metric tons.

All fishery products exported from Batam have obtained SMKHP certification from the Ministry. In 2025, the Ministry issued 1,930 certificates, while as of June 2026, the total reached 713 certificates. ***
