RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian rupiah weakened on Friday, July 24, 2026, closing at 17,935 per U.S. dollar. The rupiah briefly touched 17,994 per dollar before recovering to around 17,920.

The U.S. dollar also gained in Asia, strengthening against the Hong Kong dollar and the Chinese yuan. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s stock market declined, with the Jakarta Composite Index falling 1.88% to 6,196.43. Both the rupiah and stocks stayed weak as investors remained worried about global market risks.

Oil prices had earlier reached $100, raising concerns about inflation, before Brent crude eased to $97. Geopolitical tensions still kept markets cautious. Higher inflation may pressure central banks, with more interest rate hikes remaining possible.

Gold had faced pressure from rising oil, but stronger conflict could support gold demand. Gold recovered to $4,060 per ounce following lower oil prices. In Indonesia, gold traded near IDR 2.35 million per gram.
