RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is preparing to introduce a new investment instrument, a gold Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF). The launch is expected to broaden investment options and attract investors seeking exposure to gold prices without physically owning the commodity.
IDX Director of Development, Idiing Pardi, said the launch process is on track. “God willing, it will be launched on the capital market’s anniversary, on August 10, 2026,” Idiing said in Jakarta on Thursday, July 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik explained that regulations for gold ETFs have been issued and approved by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). “Regarding the issuance, there are currently seven investment managers that have submitted applications for preliminary listing agreements for gold ETFs to the IDX,” he said.
Support for the development of this new instrument has also come from regulators. Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi proposed to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto providing incentives for several new financial services products, including gold ETFs.
A gold ETF is an exchange-traded fund whose underlying asset is gold. This instrument allows investors to gain exposure to gold price movements through exchange trading without purchasing or storing physical gold, thereby potentially deepening the domestic capital market. ***
