RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem continues to strengthen through partnerships between the government and industry, aiming to expand opportunities for local intellectual property (IP) creators to compete globally.
The Ministry of Creative Economy, together with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) and Adobe, is exploring a collaborative program to provide creators with access to technology, training, networking, and collaborative spaces. The initiative also seeks to foster a community of creators to generate economic value from creative works.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, said Indonesia has abundant young creative talent but limited understanding of how to monetize the creative economy.
“Opportunities like this must be utilized effectively, especially to produce at least one or two successful champions,” Irene said in Jakarta, as quoted on the Ministry’s official website on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
She noted that the program aligns with the Ministry’s efforts to build an ecosystem of outstanding IP creators. Around 100 selected creators will participate in a Museum Tour at the National Museum for inspiration before joining a creative challenge.
“This activity is in line with what the Ministry has always advocated: culture as a source of material for the creative economy. Without culture, there can be no creation. It’s just a matter of making it relevant to the times,” Irene said.
In addition to strengthening culture-based creativity, the program emphasizes monetization and access to international markets. Participants will receive training, build networks, develop IP, and explore business opportunities from their creative works.
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Ovidia Nomia said the collaboration reflects the company’s commitment to expanding access to creative technologies in Indonesia.
“Through this collaboration, we want to ensure that creators have access to the technologies and ecosystems that enable them to develop their work, generate economic value, and reach global markets,” she said.
The program is part of the joint ECHOES (Ekraf Creates Harmony on Education Sector) initiative by the Ministry and GENSi (Generasi Terkoneksi) by Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.
The collaboration is expected to nurture more creative talent capable of leveraging Indonesian culture into works with economic value and global competitiveness. ***
