RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto outlined the progress of the newly established single strategic natural resources export company, Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI). He explained the progress during a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, July 20, 2026.
DSI was established by Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund agency, Danantara Indonesia, to serve as the sole exporter of deemed strategic natural resources commodities: coal, palm oil, and ferro alloys. Prabowo first announced the company's establishment before the nation's House of Representatives (DPR) in May.
The President said that in just over a month of operations, the company has managed foreign exchange earnings totaling US$10.5 billion. This is based on a report by the CEO of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani.
"I received a report from Mr. Rosan, the CEO of Danantara, that after just one month and two weeks of operation, PT DSI (DSI Ltd.) has already managed more than US$10.5 billion in foreign exchange earnings," he said, as quoted by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat.
He also highlighted the gap in selling prices at home and abroad. He said the gap was approaching up to 45 percent before DSI was established.
"Once PT DSI was established, it has almost converged, I have seen the graph," he said.

The President also referred to an analysis released last week by the U.S.-based credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings. The agency said it believed the Indonesian government's efforts to centralize management and reduce leakages in the natural resources sector through Danantara "could eventually increase revenue and export earnings, particularly if policy implementation improves".
"They're the ones who say that it's the right step for the Indonesian nation, ladies and gentlemen, and that it can increase our income, our revenue," he said.
S&P Global Ratings said Danantara Indonesia has changed the state-owned sector in Indonesia, as well as DSI, which is "likely" to change the commodity export sector. However, it affirmed that Indonesia's long-term credit outlook remains stable and retains its investment-grade, BBB rating.
As of July 2026, a transition period exists in which private coal, palm oil, and ferro alloy companies transfer their export mechanism to DSI. The company will fully handle transactions & contracts with global buyers, as well as responsibilities and authorities, starting September 1, 2026.
