RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Supreme Audit Board (BPK) and the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) are sharpening their public sector audit strategies as they celebrate two decades of cooperation.

During the inaugural visit of Australia’s Auditor-General Caralee Mcliesh, BPK Chair Isma Yatun underscored how the partnership has evolved into a strategic collaboration that strengthens institutional capacity and supports organizational development.

“This partnership has delivered tangible achievements through collaborative initiatives that reinforce institutional capacity, support organizational growth, and foster shared learning,” she said at the 2026 Senior Management Dialogue (SMD) in Jakarta on Monday, July 13, as quoted by Antara.

Over the past 20 years, the BPK–ANAO alliance has taken shape through secondments, capacity-building programs, technical assistance, and knowledge exchanges.

The collaboration has also produced key frameworks that enhance BPK’s audit methodology and governance, including the Remote Audit Guide (2021), the Integrity Management Framework (2024), and the Draft Guidelines for Performance Report Audits (2026).

These achievements reflect the evolution of the partnership from knowledge-sharing into a collaboration with concrete institutional impact.

The 2026 SMD also provided a forum to discuss strategic issues such as strengthening the role of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) internationally, increasing the impact of audit findings and stakeholder engagement, harnessing artificial intelligence in auditing, and advancing knowledge management.

As part of the program, Isma Yatun and Mcliesh paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani. The meeting aimed to reinforce synergy between SAIs and parliaments in both countries to promote good governance, public accountability, and more effective oversight of state finances.

Entering its third decade, BPK and ANAO reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation through innovative initiatives that strengthen institutional capacity and improve audit quality.

With a spirit of mutual learning and reinforcement, both institutions expressed confidence that the solid foundation already built will continue to deliver broad benefits while contributing significantly to stronger public sector accountability. ***
