RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The D-8 Halal Expo Indonesia (D-8 HEI) 2026 officially concluded on Saturday, July 12, 2026, after running for five days since July 8. According to a statement released by Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the event generated trade commitments worth approximately US$13.4 million, involving Indonesian businesses and their counterparts from member countries of the Developing-8 (D-8).

Organizers reported that the inaugural D-8 Halal Expo Indonesia featured 80 exhibition booths occupied by 80 companies from D-8 member states as well as partner countries, including Palestine and Sri Lanka. The exhibition also attracted buyers from non-D-8 countries, including the United States, Russia, and Singapore, with more than 5,000 visitors attending from both Indonesia and abroad.

During the exhibition, 29 business matching sessions were held, bringing together exporters, manufacturers, and prospective trading partners. As a result, Indonesian businesses signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Letters of Intent (LoIs) with companies from D-8 member countries.

The total value of these agreements is projected to reach approximately US$13.4 million, covering commodities such as spices and raw materials for the halal industry.

The inaugural D-8 HEI further strengthened Indonesia's position as one of the driving forces of the global halal economy while supporting one of the country's key priorities during its D-8 Chairmanship for the 2026–2027 period.

In addition to generating business commitments, the expo also served as a platform to strengthen the capacity of halal economy stakeholders through networking, the exchange of experience and technology, and by connecting innovators with investors.

Held under the theme "Strengthening D-8 Halal Economy Through International Collaboration," the expo was designed as a platform for businesses, investors, industry players, and policymakers to strengthen the halal supply chain across D-8 member countries while expanding access to global markets. The event is also expected to support the goal of increasing intra-D-8 trade to US$500 billion by 2030, while reinforcing Indonesia's position as one of the world's leading halal economy hubs.
