RRI.CO.ID, Madiun - State-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) (Persero) has strengthened its export record by delivering two locomotive platforms to Australia.
This shipment brings the total to 18 units out of 50 ordered by UGL RS Pty Limited, further solidifying the position of Indonesian railway products in the international market.
PT INKA (Persero) Commissioner Sangap Surbakti said the two units, shipped via the Surabaya Container Terminal (TPS) in East Java, were the 17th and 18th under a procurement contract signed in 2021, valued at more than IDR `100 billion.
“This shipment is an important achievement for INKA because it shows that national railway products are not only used domestically but are also accepted internationally. We express our appreciation to all INKA employees and stakeholders who supported the smooth delivery process,” Sangap said in Madiun on Saturday, July 11, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He noted that the export achievement confirms INKA’s expansion in international markets, particularly Australia and New Zealand. To date, the company has shipped more than 1,000 freight cars and dozens of locomotive platforms to support railway transport in both countries.
The shipments were made through the Surabaya Container Terminal (TPS), itself a state-owned enterprise. The collaboration reflects inter-BUMN (collaboration between state‑owned enterprises) synergy in supporting smooth logistics for exporting national industrial products.
Through this contract, INKA continues to strengthen production capacity and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s railway industry to meet global standards and customer needs. The effort also expands Indonesia's share of the international market for manufactured products.
Sangap emphasized that as a state-owned enterprise engaged in exports, INKA represents not only its own business interests but also Indonesia’s name and reputation abroad.
“Therefore, we hope support for national industrial exports can be further strengthened through conducive regulations, efficient licensing processes, and cross-agency coordination,” he said.
He added that such support is crucial for Indonesian companies to fulfill commitments to global customers and increase competitiveness in international markets. ***
