RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia signed seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in the industrial sector at INNOPROM 2026 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The cooperation is part of efforts to expand industrial partnerships and open market access in the Eurasian region.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said Indonesia is pursuing an industrial agenda focused on accelerating downstream processing in strategic sectors. He added that the government is optimistic about deepening technological partnerships with Russia and integrating high‑value manufacturing into the Eurasian market.
“Indonesia is bringing a clear industrial agenda to accelerate downstream processing. This agenda covers critical minerals, advanced manufacturing, energy, food security, and industrial zones,” Minister Agus said at the Business Forum: Russia–Indonesia Industrial Dialogue in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
The Indonesia–Russia Business Forum addressed three topics: joint industrial projects, investment opportunities, and support mechanisms for exporters. “I am confident this forum will lead both countries -- particularly the industrial sectors -- to engage in concrete collaboration through mutually beneficial and sustainable projects,” he said.
The performance of the manufacturing sector provides a strong foundation for this cooperation. In the first quarter of 2026, the sector grew 5.04 percent, surpassing the 4.55 percent growth recorded in the same period last year.
Manufacturing also made the largest contribution to national GDP at 19.07 percent, or IDR 1,179.62 trillion (approximately USD 65.19 billion). In addition, the sector accounted for 36.49 percent of total national investment, amounting to IDR 182.04 trillion in Q1 2026.
Economic relations between Indonesia and Russia have continued to strengthen in recent years. In 2025, bilateral trade reached USD 4.8 billion, with Indonesia’s exports to Russia rising by 7.5 percent. (Gusti Panji)
