RRI.CO.ID, Beijing – Indonesia and China are strengthening efforts to expand digital economy cooperation across ASEAN. The commitment was highlighted at the China–ASEAN Digital Economy Cooperation Development Closed-door Meeting in Beijing, China, on July 3, 2026.

The meeting was part of the Global Digital Economy Conference 2026 and took place at the Beijing Digital Economy Enterprise Overseas Innovation Service Base in Daxing District. Under the theme Connecting ASEAN through Digital Intelligence, Creating a Shared Future, the forum brought together governments, businesses, international organizations, and universities from China and ASEAN countries.

Indonesia’s delegation was led by Deputy Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Ali Murtopo Simbolon, who attended as a keynote speaker. He presented Indonesia’s digital economy policy direction and outlined potential partnerships with regional stakeholders.

The forum was also attended by representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam in China, the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance, and companies operating in digital technology, new energy, smart industrial parks, and cross-border services.

Participants explored cooperation in digital economy development, investment, technological innovation, smart industrial parks, and human resource development. The discussion came as China and ASEAN continue to deepen economic ties, including through opportunities offered by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP.

At the event, the China–ASEAN Industry Cooperation Development Promotion Association, or CAICPDA, launched the Enterprise Going Global Partnership Program. The initiative provides integrated support for Chinese companies seeking to expand into ASEAN markets, covering market research, investment, project implementation, and long-term operations.

The program also offers legal, tax, financing, branding, cross-border compliance, and professional consulting services. It aims to help companies enter ASEAN markets more smoothly and build sustainable businesses in the region.

The forum also produced strategic agreements. The Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance and CAICPDA signed a cooperation agreement, while the Memorandum of Understanding for the Beijing Indonesia Innovation Center was signed alongside the center’s official launch.

The Beijing Indonesia Innovation Center was established through collaboration between the Beijing Digital Economy Enterprise Overseas Innovation Service Base, CAICPDA, the University of Science and Technology Beijing, President University Indonesia, and Jababeka Group, with support from Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. The center will focus on AI, cross-border e-commerce, fintech, smart cities, technology development, market expansion, and talent development.

The forum concluded with project presentations and business matching sessions involving Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. Going forward, Daxing District, CAICPDA, the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance, governments, businesses, and universities in ASEAN are expected to promote more concrete investment and innovation projects to deepen digital economy cooperation between China and ASEAN.
