RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that strengthening the national industry requires more than investment and production capacity. It also depends on ensuring fair business competition for all players.

To this end, the government is intensifying oversight of business compliance to ensure companies operate in line with regulations, including fulfilling tax obligations.

As part of this effort, Minister Purbaya visited a Chinese steel company in Pulogadung, Jakarta, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, to address discrepancies between the scale of its operations and its tax reporting.

According to Minister Purbaya, the government aims to guarantee equal opportunities for all businesses to grow without practices that distort competition.

“We want to ensure that all companies operating in Indonesia comply with regulations. Our goal is not to hinder or shut down businesses, but to ensure healthy and fair competition for all industry players,” he said, as quoted by infopublik.id.

The government considers regulatory compliance a key foundation for strengthening the national industry. Equal application of rules allows compliant businesses to compete more fairly and gain business certainty.

The process is currently at the clarification stage. The Finance Ministry has requested supporting documents and data for objective, fact-based verification.

Company management stated that their operations comply with regulations and expressed readiness to cooperate. The government welcomed this stance and hopes the verification process will be completed soon.

Beyond this company, the government will take similar steps with other firms based on collected data and information.

Minister Purbaya stressed that consistent supervision is part of efforts to build a healthy, competitive, and sustainable industry. With equal compliance across the board, the government hopes the industrial sector, including steel, can grow stronger and enhance national competitiveness amid global challenges. ***
