RRI.CO.ID, Sydney - Indonesia is strengthening its presence in the Australian market through the Global Sourcing Expo, or GSE Sydney 2026, held from June 16 to 18 at the International Convention Centre Sydney, Australia.

Facilitated by the Indonesian Trade Attaché in Canberra, eight Indonesian exporters joined the exhibition under the Indonesian Pavilion. Their participation recorded potential transactions worth USD 3.5 million.

Indonesia appeared with a 75-square-meter pavilion and a special Trade Expo Indonesia, or TEI 2026, booth. The pavilion was opened by Indonesian Trade Attaché in Canberra, Agung Haris Setiawan, together with President Director of PT Debindomulti Adhiswasti, Vibiadhi Swasti Pradana, as the organizer of TEI 2026. Indonesian Ambassador to Australia and Vanuatu, Siswo Pramono, also visited the pavilion on June 17 to show his support.

Haris said GSE Sydney 2026 was an important platform for Indonesian exporters to introduce their products to international buyers.

“GSE is one of the biggest and most important sourcing exhibitions in Australia. Indonesia’s participation is a strategic opportunity to showcase the quality and variety of Indonesian products, while expanding market access for our exporters,” he said.

The eight exporters featured at the pavilion were PT Gradial Perdana Perkasa, Linda Chandra Art Shoes, Pakis Jaya Garmindo or Batik Hadinata, Faz Uniforms, Nicole’s Natural, Zemed.id, Two Baskets, and Adiwinoto Ecoprint Boutique. They promoted garments, fashion products, batik, footwear, uniforms, handicrafts, and home décor.

Haris also said, Australia offers strong potential for these products. Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that Australia’s imports of textiles, clothing, and footwear reached AUD 1.768 billion in April 2026. Retail sales of clothing, footwear, and personal accessories also reached around AUD 3.18 billion in June 2025.

“These figures show that Australia is a relevant and promising market for Indonesian garments, fashion, footwear, accessories, textiles, and lifestyle products,” he added.

Indonesia’s participation also supported the Ministry of Trade’s Campuspreneur program, which encourages Indonesian students overseas to take part in trade promotion, entrepreneurship, and national export development. During the expo, Indonesian students helped manage the pavilion, assist exhibitors, and communicate with buyers and visitors.

One of them was Oriza Utami, an MBA student at the University of Sydney, who represented Zemed.id, an Indonesian children’s clothing brand exploring export opportunities in Australia. Oriza said the expo gave her team a chance to better understand Australian buyers, build business networks, and test the potential of Indonesian products in the international market.

Meanwhile, the special TEI 2026 booth attracted interest from 30 potential Australian buyers who said they were interested in attending Trade Expo Indonesia 2026. The event, Indonesia’s largest trade exhibition, will be held from October 14 to 18, 2026.

GSE Sydney 2026 brought together buyers, retailers, wholesalers, importers, distributors, and industry players with suppliers from various countries. This year, more than 600 exhibitors took part, including participants from Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Taiwan, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and other countries.
