RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that retail sales performance remained stable, with the Real Sales Index (RSI) recorded at 225.9 in April 2026.
BI’s Executive Director of the Communications Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, said the performance was mainly supported by annual sales growth in the Spare Parts and Accessories, Other Household Goods, and Other Goods categories.

“Monthly, retail sales in May 2026 are projected at ‑0.9 percent month‑to‑month (mtm), an improvement compared to the previous month’s contraction of ‑11.6 percent (mtm),” Denny said in a press release in Jakarta on Thursday, June 11, 2026, as quoted on BI’s official website.
He explained that the improvement was driven by public demand during the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) period, including Christ’s Ascension Day, Eid al‑Adha, and Vesak.
In April 2026, the RSI stood at 226.9. “This performance was supported by steady annual sales growth in the Spare Parts and Accessories Group, Other Household Goods, and Cultural and Recreational Goods,” Denny said.
On a monthly basis, retail sales in April 2026 contracted by 11.6 percent (mtm). Denny noted that the decline reflected the normalization of consumer demand following the Ramadan and Eid al‑Fitr 1447 H HBKN period.
In terms of prices, inflationary pressure over the next three months, specifically July 2026, is projected to remain relatively stable. Meanwhile, over the next six months, prices are expected to rise by October 2026.
This projection is reflected in the General Price Expectation Index (GPEI) for July 2026, which stands at 175.8, relatively stable compared to the June 2026 GPEI of 175.6. Meanwhile, the October 2026 GPEI is projected at 167.6, up from 163.2 in September 2026, driven by rising raw material prices. ***
