RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) will optimally oversee the new natural resources export governance issued by the country's president, Prabowo Subianto. Earlier, he announced the issuance of a Government Regulation on the Governance of Natural Resource Commodity Exports at the Indonesian Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The regulation was issued to improve the national strategic commodity trading system and curb price manipulation in natural resource exports. It also designated PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia, a subsidiary of Indonesia's sovereign fund agency Danantara Indonesia, as a special state-owned enterprise to act as the sole exporter.

The policy was motivated by government findings on widespread under-invoicing and transfer pricing practices in natural resources exports. Responding to the policy, a House member, Kawendra Lukistian, emphasized that the government's steps are part of an effort to safeguard state assets and wealth to provide maximum benefits to the public.

"Of course, it will be implemented through government regulations and so on. And we in Commission VI will certainly oversee this optimally. Because it is the government's commitment that everything is done for the benefit of the nation," Kawendra said as quoted by the House's statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Kawendra, of the Prabowo-led Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party, considered the policy important to close the potential for state leakage that has occurred in the management of national strategic commodities. He said the "leakage" seen "over the past 20 years" should not happen again in the future.

"Because things like that we must protect, which is our asset, our state property, we must optimize as much as possible for our nation," he said.

Regarding the negative market response to the policy, Kawendra believes the government has prepared a formula to maintain stability and the national business climate. He said that their principle today is to jointly observe the president's commitment and how the Indonesian 1945 Constitution will be implemented in a concrete and concrete manner.
