RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF Canada) to strengthen the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) and enhance the competitiveness of local economies.

“Canada has a strong record in developing modern cooperatives. Several cooperatives there have consistently ranked among the Top 300 in the World Cooperative Monitor,” said Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono after the signing ceremony with CDF Canada Executive Director Benoit André in Jakarta on Thursday, April 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

“The successful experiences of several cooperatives in Canada are certainly expected to serve as lessons and inspiration for cooperatives in Indonesia, particularly for the operational activities of the KDKMP,” he added.

The agreement focuses on improving the quality of human resources and advancing institutional development. “This also serves to strengthen bilateral relations, which include cooperative development,” Ferry said. He noted that the collaboration also covers enhancing the competencies of small and medium enterprises that form part of the cooperative supply chain.

CDF Canada, which has a track record of supporting cooperative development in several countries, welcomed the initiative. “We are ready to provide support through our expertise and are committed to helping cooperatives succeed,” said André. ***
