RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture reported that exports of Indonesian poultry products reached 545 tons, valued at IDR 18.2 billion (USD 1.05 million), in March 2026. A national production surplus and the expansion of export markets drove this achievement.

The Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, said that Indonesia has achieved self-sufficiency in eggs, chicken, and rice. “We are encouraging exports to other countries,” he said in an official release on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Minister Amran noted that the export market continues to expand, with approximately 10 destination countries. Indonesia’s poultry exports currently reach Singapore, Japan, and Timor-Leste.

Ministry data shows that exports are dominated by table eggs, totaling 517 tons or approximately 8.13 million eggs. The remainder consists of chicken meat and value-added processed products.

Poultry export performance has increased over the past three years. In 2024, exports amounted to around 300 tons, valued at IDR 10–11 billion.

In 2025, this increased to approximately 400 tons, valued at IDR 13–15 billion. Meanwhile, from January to March 2026, exports reached 545 tons, valued at IDR 18.2 billion.

In addition to volume, the export structure is shifting toward processed products. Products such as nuggets and karaage are seen as increasing value-added.

Domestic production serves as the main pillar of poultry exports. Chicken meat production reached 4.29 million tons, with annual consumption at 4.12 million tons.

Meanwhile, production of commercial chicken eggs reached 6.54 million tons, with consumption at 6.47 million tons. This situation indicates a national production surplus.

The Ministry is also strengthening animal health and biosecurity systems. Veterinary certification is being implemented to meet international standards.

Additionally, the government continues to open new market access through trade diplomacy to expand the reach of poultry exports. In the future, exports are expected to continue increasing through downstream product development. These efforts are also expected to maintain prices at the farm level. (Gusti Panji/Bambang MBKA)
