RRI.CO.ID, Banda Aceh - Acehnese coffee has officially entered the global market with its first export shipment, opening new opportunities for the region’s flagship commodity and marking a broader business expansion.
Aceh Province-owned company PT Pembangunan Aceh (PEMA), through its subsidiary Sumatera Noble Coffee KSO, shipped 19 tons of Triple Pick Arabica coffee to the United States in early April 2026. The initiative is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen Gayo coffee’s penetration in international markets.
PEMA President Director Mawardi Nur said the achievement reflects cross-sector collaboration, including support from the local administration.
He described the milestone as crucial for building a sustainable coffee industry. Mawardi expressed gratitude to the team, business partners, farmers, cooperatives, and all stakeholders who worked together to make the export possible.
The company is preparing subsequent shipments to ensure a continuous supply to the U.S. market, with the next export scheduled for early May 2026. Partnerships with farmers and local stakeholders remain central to maintaining production quality and volume, while also reinforcing Aceh coffee’s position in an increasingly competitive global market.
Mawardi emphasized that PEMA is committed to developing an inclusive coffee business ecosystem. He said value-added distribution is essential to ensure that economic benefits are widely shared.
The initiative also aligns with the direction of Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, who has encouraged promoting local flagship commodities to penetrate global markets.
In addition to exports, PEMA recorded domestic sales of 21 tons to Medan, further strengthening its overall trade performance. Looking ahead, the coffee sector is projected to become one of the main pillars of Aceh’s economic growth. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
