RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Creative Economy emphasized the importance of women’s leadership in strengthening national resilience and promoting inclusive development. Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, delivered the statement during a national dialogue and workshop titled “The Role of Women’s Leadership in Advancing Independence and National Resilience” at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
She stated that the creative economy has become an increasingly strategic space for women, especially amid the acceleration of digital transformation.
“The creative economy opens up vast opportunities regardless of background. With technological support, women can create from anywhere and become part of the economic driving force. This is an inclusive space that allows everyone to contribute,” she said.
She added that strengthening women’s roles through the creative economy also contributes to increasing capacity and independence, as access to business opportunities and innovation continues to expand.
“The creative economy is the new engine of growth that provides broad opportunities for women to thrive. The key is the courage to start and confidence in oneself,” she said.
Echoing this, Vice Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, stated that future development approaches must ensure women are involved as drivers, not merely beneficiaries.
“Women must be part of the development process. Affirmative policies are needed so that women are involved in economic strategies and decision-making,” she said.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of cross-sector synergy to deliver programs that directly impact family resilience, local economies, and community-based food security.
Additionally, Vice Minister of National Development Planning/Vice Head of Bappenas, Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, noted that strengthening women’s roles aligns with the fourth Asta Cita priority, which focuses on improving the quality of human resources as the foundation of national development.
“National resilience is built from the family level. In various conditions, women play a crucial role in maintaining that continuity. Therefore, strengthening women’s capacity is an essential part of improving Indonesia’s human resources,” he said.
Cross-ministerial and institutional collaboration in this forum reinforces a more integrated policy direction and encourages the implementation of programs with direct impact on society.
The Ministry of Creative Economy views strengthening women’s leadership-particularly through the creative economy sector as a concrete step to expand public participation while reinforcing the foundation of inclusive and sustainable national development.
