Supporting the Penetration of Indonesian Coffee, KDEI Taipei Strengthens Kenanga

RRI.CO.ID, Taipei – The Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI) Taipei fully supports the opening of the first Kenangan Coffee outlet in Taiwan. Located at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store, Taipei, the outlet showcases authentic Indonesian coffee in the Taiwanese market.

Head of KDEI Taipei, Arif Sulistiyo, praised the expansion. "The presence of Kenangan Coffee in Taiwan proves that Indonesian coffee is competitive and high-quality. This will also boost exports of Indonesian products to Taiwan," he said at the opening ceremony on April 7, 2026, as quoted by the official statement.

Arif affirmed KDEI's commitment to expanding Indonesian coffee's market share in Taiwan. KDEI is actively collaborating with Kenangan Coffee Taiwan and local stakeholders through promotional campaigns, influencer networks, and consumer feedback monitoring.

The opening ceremony was attended by Arif, Kenangan Coffee Group CEO, Edward Tirtanata, Taiwan Co-Founder Peter Wu, and BRI Taipei General Manager Andik Kurniawan. The outlet will hold its grand opening on April 10, 2026, featuring the exclusive Pistachio Macchiato variant available only from April 10–13, 2026, along with a buy-one-get-one promotion.

A soft launch was held on March 28, 2026, attracting around 250 visitors on weekdays and 350 on weekends, with some coming from outside Taipei. Kenangan Coffee Taiwan offers various coffee, tea, and pastry options, including special menus tailored to local Taiwanese tastes.

According to him, the outlet also creates a meaningful connection for the estimated 400,000 Indonesians living in Taiwan. "More than just a product, Kenangan Coffee represents Indonesian identity," he said.

Kopi Kenangan serves the Indonesian market, while Kenangan Coffee is the international brand for global expansion. The Taiwan expansion was driven by Co-Founder Peter Wu, who noted the brand has over 1,300 global outlets, with Taiwan as its seventh international market.

Meanwhile, Edward Tirtanata, expressed pride in bringing Kenangan Coffee to Taiwan, hoping to introduce Indonesian coffee flavors to local Taiwanese communities.

From January to February 2026, total Indonesia-Taiwan trade reached USD 1.45 billion, with Indonesia posting a surplus of USD 26.60 million. In 2025, total trade reached USD 9.96 billion, with an Indonesian surplus of USD 1.13 billion.

Major Indonesian exports to Taiwan in 2025 included iron and steel, mineral fuels, copper, and electrical machinery. Major imports from Taiwan included electrical machinery, mechanical appliances, plastics, iron and steel, and knitted fabrics.
