RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened higher in trading on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. At the start of the first session, the JCI stood at 7,149.88, up 178.85 points or 2.57 percent from the previous close.

In a previous analysis, the JCI on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) was projected to rebound. On Tuesday, April 7, the JCI closed lower at 6,971.

“Technically, the JCI has the potential to rebound in the short term to the 7,020–7,050 range today,” said Fanny Suherman, Head of Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, on Wednesday, April 8. She cautioned market participants to remain alert to fluctuations.

According to Fanny, the most crucial catalyst is the realization of a peaceful resolution to the Strait of Hormuz issue. “If the JCI fails to break above 7,050, it will be vulnerable to correction again,” she said.

Fanny estimated that the JCI would move within the 6,850–6,900 range for support levels, while resistance levels would be in the 7,020–7,050 range.

On Tuesday, April 7, the JCI closed down 0.26 percent amid net foreign selling of IDR 1.78 trillion (USD 104.63 million). The stocks most heavily sold by foreign investors were BMRI, BBRI, ANTM, CUAN, and BUMI.

Meanwhile, the weakening of the rupiah, along with inflation and fiscal risks, will act as obstacles to the JCI’s recovery. Bank Indonesia (BI) has affirmed its commitment to optimizing monetary operations to stabilize the rupiah exchange rate.

Global stock markets moved mixed on Tuesday, April 7, as investors awaited a US–Iran peace deal mediated by Pakistan. The S&P 500 index rose 0.08 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.10 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.18 percent.

In the Asia-Pacific region, stock markets closed higher yesterday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 0.03 percent, South Korea’s Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 0.82 percent, and Taiwan’s TWSE Capitalization Weighted Stock Index (TAIEX) surged 2.02 percent. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
