RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has begun publishing a list of stocks with high shareholding concentration (HSC), marking one of its four main priorities to strengthen transparency in the Indonesian capital market.
High Shareholding Concentration (HSC) refers to stocks held in large quantities by specific shareholders.
“This announcement aims to enhance transparency for investors in making investment decisions,” said Acting IDX CEO Jeffrey Hendrik in a press statement in Jakarta on Friday, April 3, 2026.
Jeffrey explained that HSC disclosure is a common practice among global exchanges. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange previously adopted the same measure when facing similar concerns raised by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI).
He emphasized that public disclosure of HSC does not necessarily indicate a violation of capital market regulations. “The HSC disclosure is intended purely as information for investors,” Jeffrey said.
The process of determining which stocks fall under HSC is formulated by a joint committee of the IDX and the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI), using methodologies outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Jeffrey noted that in Hong Kong, no further action is taken against companies listed in the HSC announcement.
At the IDX, however, listed companies may conduct assessments or take steps to improve their investability. Companies that succeed in doing so may report to the IDX and KSEI, which will reassess and issue a new announcement if the company is no longer categorized under HSC.
The IDX published its first HSC list at the close of trading on Thursday, April 2, 2026, via its official website.
