17 national companies participated in the China Food Trade Fair at the Wuhan International Expo Center from March 28–31, 2026. The Indonesian delegation occupied a 90-square-meter pavilion, showcasing a range of tropical and marine commodities.
“This exhibition highlights Indonesia’s fisheries and tropical fruit sector to the global market, especially China. Indonesia’s leading products have strong potential internationally,” Fajarini said in Jakarta on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
She explained that the quality of Indonesian fisheries and tropical fruit products can compete globally. She noted that Indonesia’s processed food sector recorded exports valued at USD 386.48 million in 2025.
Indonesia’s Trade Attaché in Beijing, Junita Syartika, described Wuhan as a strategic logistics hub in Central China. She said Indonesia’s presence in the region could open significant opportunities to reach potential buyers.
“Having Indonesian products in Wuhan allows us to directly demonstrate their quality to Chinese buyers. We are also seeing growing enthusiasm in the Chinese market for tropical food products and industrial raw materials from Indonesia,” Syartika said.
She added that Chinese buyers are showing strong interest in Indonesian industrial raw materials, particularly sweet biscuits, waffles, pasta, and fruit jelly.
The Indonesian government is organizing the Indonesia-China Food & Ecosystem Forum on March 30, 2026, to strengthen collaborative dialogue and develop an industrial ecosystem for small and medium enterprises.
“With the vast potential of the Chinese market, we are optimistic that cooperation between businesses in both countries will continue to grow,” Fajarini said.
She emphasized that this economic diplomacy could increase the value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and China and aims to promote sustainable growth in market access for creative products made by Indonesia’s youth.
Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports to China reached USD 67.04 billion, with iron, nickel, and coal as the main commodities.
The Indonesian pavilion featured tropical fruits, spices, porang (Amorphophallus muelleri), coffee, seafood, and bird’s nest products. The annual exhibition is a major event, with around 400,000 visitors recorded in the previous edition. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
