RRI.CO.ID, Karanganyar – Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, said the use of gas for cooking needs to be monitored to prevent unnecessary waste. The fuel stations aren’t meant for large industries.

He made this statement after conducting a direct inspection of energy supply conditions at the Sragen and Bolon Public Fueling Stations in Karanganyar, Central Java, on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Although the supply is secure, the Minister reminded the public to remain frugal in their energy use at home.

He also assured that the national energy supply remains secure. Ensuring a sufficient supply is a top priority for the Indonesian government, particularly during this year’s post-Eid al-Fitr exodus.

“When cooking with LPG, once the food is cooked, don’t let the stove run needlessly. Furthermore, these fuel stations are not intended for industrial use, so please use them wisely. Because we truly need the public’s cooperation to use energy wisely together,” he said.

In addition to the call for conservation, Bahlil said the government continues to strive to maintain national energy security from various sources. Efforts to secure oil supplies from abroad are being carried out to the fullest extent and with intensity.

Bahlil said, “The President has ordered us to immediately seek oil supplies from all countries. Then, we must optimize all the energy resources we have. I must assure the Indonesian people that, God willing, we will no longer import diesel. So, let’s be clear. For gasoline, 50% is still imported, and the rest is domestically produced. But we are already looking for alternatives, including crude oil.”

Ultimately, these combined efforts between the government and the community are expected to strengthen Indonesia's energy independence for years to come.
