RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is leveraging Eid al-Fitr 2026 to boost domestic economic activity through various stimulus measures. These steps aim to increase public mobility during Ramadan, particularly during the Eid exodus.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said the government has launched several programs, including discounts, flexible work policies such as work-from-anywhere (WFA), and social assistance. He conveyed this during an open house event at his residence in Widya Chandra, Jakarta, on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

“We fasted for 30 days, and the meaning of this victory is also related to the economy. The government has introduced many programs, including discounts, promoting mobility through work-from-anywhere, and other initiatives such as food assistance and social aid,” Airlangga said, as quoted by Antara.

He hopes that these programs will increase mobility and household consumption, thereby supporting economic growth. “And we hope that with this momentum of victory, we can achieve economic growth of 5.5 percent in the first quarter,” he said.

Earlier, the government rolled out a series of incentives to encourage public mobility during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026. These include discounts on transportation and toll road fees. The program covers reduced travel costs across various modes, such as air, rail, sea, and land transport, to facilitate homecoming trips.

Train and sea transport tickets are discounted by up to 30 percent, while airline tickets are reduced by 17 to 18 percent. Ferry service fees are waived to further ease travel costs. The budget for these transportation incentives is estimated at more than IDR 900 billion, sourced from the State Budget and non-State Budget support.

In addition to travel incentives, the government is distributing food aid to more than 35 million beneficiary families over two months. The packages include basic necessities such as rice and cooking oil to help maintain household consumption during the holiday period. ***
