RRI.CO.ID, Boston – Indonesia utilized the opening day of the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) 2026 on Sunday, March 15, 2026, to strengthen its business network with various stakeholders in the global seafood industry. SENA 2026 is taking place from March 15–17, 2026, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, United States (US). Over the next three days, the Indonesia Pavilion will promote national fishery products to the world market, particularly the US.
The Indonesian Trade Attaché in Washington D.C., Ranitya Kusumadewi, stated that the first day of the exhibition was used by Indonesian participants to establish business communication with various potential partners in the US market. She expressed hope that participation in SENA 2026 would further strengthen the presence of Indonesian seafood products in the international market.
"Indonesian exhibitors made optimal use of the first day to explore business cooperation (business meetings) with several seafood importers and distributors in the US. We see strong interest in Indonesian fishery products and cooperation opportunities that will continue to develop throughout the exhibition," Ranitya said.
The Indonesia Pavilion at SENA 2026 carries the theme "Indonesia Seafood: Naturally Diverse, Safe, and Sustainable." This theme reflects Indonesia's commitment to presenting seafood products that are safe, high-quality, and produced responsibly by observing the principles of sustainability and traceability.
Indonesia's participation in the National Pavilion involves several national fishery associations and companies. The participants showcase various leading Indonesian seafood products and various value-added fishery products that have already been marketed to various export destination countries.
Ranitya revealed that several Indonesian companies had also initiated cooperation explorations with seafood importers and distributors in the US on the first day of the exhibition. Initial discussions primarily covered potential trade cooperation for shrimp, tuna, and other value-added fishery products.
Indonesian Ambassador Indroyono emphasized the importance of strengthening the trade partnership between Indonesia and the US, based on the principles of sustainability and market trust. "Indonesia's participation in this exhibition also serves as a means to demonstrate Indonesia's commitment to sustainable, safe, and traceable fishery practices," he added.
The Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, stated separately that the Ministry of Trade continues to strive to expand market access for Indonesian fishery products in the global market. The Ministry of Trade is also optimistic that Indonesia's participation in SENA 2026 will not only increase trade transactions but also strengthen the image of Indonesian seafood products as high-quality and competitive in the international market.
In 2025, the export value of Indonesian fishery products to the US was recorded at USD 1.17 billion. The main export commodities for fishery products include shrimp, frozen tuna, frozen fillets, tilapia, and mollusks.
