RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said the government has not yet calculated the potential additional energy subsidy budget for 2026, pending developments in global crude oil prices.
He explained that the government continues to monitor global oil price movements before determining subsidy policy, as fluctuations have persisted in recent weeks. “As of now, we have not yet calculated the exact subsidy budget and increases,” Minister Bahlil said after a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
According to him, average oil prices since the beginning of the year have not risen significantly. “Yesterday, I calculated that the average price since January has not exceeded USD 70 per barrel. It was below USD 70, then rose in recent days to USD 80–90, with some reaching USD 112 per barrel,” he said.
Minister Bahlil added that global oil prices had surged in recent days but have since fallen back below USD 100 per barrel. “Now they have dropped again, below USD 100. We will continue to monitor developments,” he said.
He also noted the relatively high increase in the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) this month, stating that the government is monitoring the situation before taking further action. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
