RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has ensured that the manufacturing industry is ready to face a surge in public demand ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. Among them are textiles and textile products (TPT) and footwear, with sufficient production capacity to meet domestic market needs.
Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said the national manufacturing industry's production capacity is currently at an optimal level. He said that comprehensive coordination with business actors and industry associations has been conducted.
“An increase in textile and footwear consumption always precedes the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr momentum. Based on our coordination with business actors and industry associations, national production capacity is currently in optimal condition and ready to meet these needs,” said Minister Agus in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
In 2025, the textile and textile products industry recorded a 3.55 percent growth. This labor-intensive sector also contributed significantly to the national gross domestic product by 0.97 percent.
The Ministry's Director of Textiles, Leather, and Footwear Industries, Rizky Aditya Wijaya, conveyed the TPT industry's socio-economic function. According to him, employment in this manufacturing sector reached 3.96 million in August 2025.
This is an increase from the data as of February 2025, which showed 3.76 million people. “This proves that the textile industry is still the main driver of employment,” he said.
According to Rizky, the government is taking strategic steps by monitoring production capacity and strengthening the supply of industrial raw materials. Distribution and logistics coordination have also been strengthened to ensure goods are delivered efficiently to consumers.
Meanwhile, supervision of illegal secondhand clothing imports has been tightened to protect small and medium-sized industries. “This is essential to maintain the sustainability of the national textile industry and provide more space for domestic products,” he said.
The Indonesian Textile Association (API) reported an increase in the production of Muslim clothing and sarongs since early 2026. “Demand for children's clothing and casual shoes has also increased ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” he said. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
