RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is accelerating its green industry transformation to address competitiveness challenges and environmental concerns. The Ministry of Industry is strengthening standardization and certification as key instruments to promote sustainable manufacturing.

Through the Padang Industrial Standardization and Services Center (BSPJI), the ministry is implementing this strategic measure. The unit provides certification and standardization services to help businesses make production processes more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said the implementation of thegreen industry is a strategic part of national industrial development. “The government continues to encourage industry players to consistently apply the principles of resource efficiency and eco-friendly production as the foundation for strengthening the national industrial structure,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday, March 5, 2026, as quoted on the ministry’s official website.

Minister Agus noted that green industry practices not only protect the environment but also add value and enhance competitiveness. “Through the application of these principles, companies can reduce production costs, increase productivity, and strengthen the position of their products in domestic and global markets. Communities also benefit from better environmental quality and sustainable economic growth,” he said.

BSPJI Padang is a technical implementation unit under the Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI). It provides conformity assessment services to ensure the optimal use of energy, water, and raw materials while minimizing environmental impact.

In support of this policy, BSPJI Padang offers Green Industry Certification to companies that meet the criteria. The certification recognizes industry commitment to efficient and responsible production processes.

The certification covers industries such as Portland cement, solid NPK fertilizer, mineral water, crumb rubber, and palm cooking oil, all of which refer to Green Industry Standards in their respective sectors.

BSKJI Head Emmy Suryandari said standardization and conformity assessment play an important role in ensuring that green industry implementation is measurable and accountable.

She explained that standardization provides assurance that practices are carried out in accordance with applicable standards, enabling optimal realization of benefits for both industry and society.

BSPJI Padang Head Dindin Syafruddin emphasized the institution’s readiness to provide services and assistance to industry players in implementing green industry practices. He expressed hope that these efforts would encourage industries to grow more efficiently, competitively, and with greater environmental awareness.

Through this commitment, BSPJI Padang continues to support efficient, competitive, and sustainable national industrial practices, consistent with the Ministry’s green industry transformation policy. ***
