RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Industry continuously boosts national industrial competitiveness by enhancing industrial service delivery and accelerating halal certification. One of the key efforts involves synergy between the Standardization and Industrial Services Center (BSPJI) Pontianak and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government to reinforce industrial services in the Ketapang Industrial Area and implement a halal certification facilitation program for businesses in the region.
The collaboration was formalized through coordination between the Head of BSPJI Pontianak and the Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Energy and Mineral Resources of West Kalimantan Province. This initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen synergy between the central and regional governments in supporting industrial development and enhancing business competitiveness in West Kalimantan.
Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, underscored that accelerating halal certification is a strategic instrument to reinforce the structure of the national industry while increasing the added value of domestic products.
“The government is committed to accelerating halal certification as part of strengthening national industrial competitiveness. Halal certification not only fulfills regulatory obligations, but also adds product value, expands market access, and enhances consumer trust,” Agus said in a statement on Friday, 27 February 2026.
Head of the Agency for Industrial Standardization and Services Policy (BSKJI), Emmy Suryandari, stated that the acceleration of halal certification is also part of transforming industrial services to be more adaptive and integrated.
“BSKJI continues to strengthen the role of regional service units, including BSPJI, to be more responsive to industry needs. Accelerating halal certification is not merely about fulfilling obligations, but a strategy to build a standardized, competitive, and export-oriented halal industry ecosystem,” she said.
One of the main agendas in the coordination meeting was the implementation of the Halal Certification Facilitation Program for 30 businesses in West Kalimantan, a 2025 initiative of the provincial government. Under this program, the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) of BSPJI Pontianak was appointed to conduct halal examination processes for business products in accordance with prevailing regulations.
Meanwhile, Head of BSPJI Pontianak, Ahmad Nashoruddin Muammar, conveyed that the coordination aims to align BSPJI’s industrial service functions with regional industry needs, particularly in meeting standards and certification requirements.
“This coordination is a step toward strengthening synergy between BSPJI Pontianak and the regional government in supporting industrial services, including halal certification facilitation, so that businesses can meet regulatory requirements and improve product competitiveness,” he stated.
Echoing the sentiment, Head of Disperindagkop ESDM of West Kalimantan Province, Syarif Kamaruzaman, stated the halal certification facilitation program reflects the regional government’s commitment to improving business competitiveness.
“Through this halal certification facilitation, the West Kalimantan Provincial Government seeks to help businesses ensure halal compliance, increase consumer confidence, and open opportunities for market expansion,” he said.
The halal certification facilitation program is expected to help businesses fulfill certification obligations while strengthening consumer trust in their products. Furthermore, the collaboration forms part of broader efforts to reinforce the halal industry ecosystem in West Kalimantan through active involvement of the regional government and technical institutions.
