RRI.CO.ID, Ketapang – The Industry Ministry is accelerating halal certification to strengthen the national industrial structure and increase the value of domestic products through enhanced industrial services and certification programs.
The effort includes a synergy between the Pontianak Institute for Standardization and Industrial Services (BSPJI) and the West Kalimantan provincial administration to strengthen industrial services in the Ketapang industrial area and facilitate halal certification for local businesses.
The initiative follows coordination between BSPJI Pontianak and the West Kalimantan Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Energy and Mineral Resources Agency (Disperindagkop ESDM).
The collaboration forms part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation between the central government and regional administrations to support industrial development and improve business competitiveness in West Kalimantan.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said accelerating halal certification is a strategic instrument to reinforce the national industrial structure while increasing the added value of domestic products.
“The government is committed to accelerating halal certification as part of strengthening national industrial competitiveness. Halal certification not only fulfills regulatory obligations but also adds value to products, expands market access, and increases consumer trust,” Agus said in a statement on Friday, February 27, 2026, as quoted on the ministry's official website.
Head of the Agency for Standardization and Industrial Services Policy (BSKJI), Emmy Suryandari, said the acceleration also forms part of efforts to transform industrial services to become more adaptive and integrated.
“BSKJI continues to strengthen the role of regional service units, including BSPJI, so they can better respond to industrial needs. Accelerating halal certification is not only about fulfilling obligations but also about building a standardized, competitive, and export-oriented halal industrial ecosystem,” Emmy said.
A key agenda in the coordination is the Halal Certification Facilitation Program for 30 businesses in West Kalimantan, a provincial administration program scheduled for 2025. Under the program, BSPJI Pontianak has been appointed as the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) to conduct halal examinations of business products in accordance with applicable regulations.
BSPJI Pontianak head Ahmad Nashoruddin Muammar said the coordination aims to align BSPJI’s industrial service role with regional industrial needs, particularly in meeting standards and certification requirements.
“This coordination is a step to strengthen synergy between BSPJI Pontianak and regional administrations in supporting industrial services, including halal certification facilitation, so businesses can meet regulatory requirements and improve product competitiveness,” Ahmad said.
West Kalimantan Disperindagkop ESDM head Syarif Kamaruzaman said the halal certification facilitation program reflects the regional government’s commitment to supporting business competitiveness.
“Through this halal certification facilitation, the West Kalimantan provincial administration seeks to help businesses ensure halal compliance, increase consumer confidence, and open opportunities for market expansion,” Syarif said.
The halal certification facilitation program is expected to help businesses meet certification requirements while increasing consumer trust in their products. The collaboration also forms part of efforts to strengthen the halal industrial ecosystem in West Kalimantan through active involvement of regional administrations and technical institutions.
Through cross-sector coordination, BSPJI Pontianak said it remains committed to providing professional and accountable industrial and halal inspection services to support competitive and sustainable industrial growth. ***
