RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Public optimism towards the national economy strengthened in early 2026. The results of a Bank Indonesia (BI) survey show that the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) in January rose compared to December 2025.
The Consumer Confidence Index returned to the optimistic zone, rising to 127.0, up from the previous month's 123.5. This index is a key indicator of the public's assessment of current economic conditions and the outlook for the next six months.
BI's Executive Director of Communications, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, said that the increase in the Current Economic Conditions Index (IKE) and the Consumer Expectations Index (IEK) drove the growth of the IKK in January 2026.
“The IKE and IEK were recorded at 115.1 and 138.8, respectively, higher than the previous month's indices of 111.4 and 135.6,” said Denny in Jakarta on Monday, February 9, as quoted by Antara.
Consumer perceptions of current economic conditions rose as all components strengthened. The Current Income Index reached 123.7, the Job Availability Index 109.9, and the Durable Goods Purchase Index 111.8.
Consumer expectations for the economy in the next six months also improved. The Income Expectations Index and Business Activity Expectations Index increased to 146.0 and 135.3, respectively.

The proportion of installment payments or debt remained relatively unchanged at 11.2 percent. At the same time, the savings ratio increased to 16.5 percent, suggesting that consumers are strengthening their savings. ***
