RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s economy posted its strongest fourth-quarter performance since the COVID-19 pandemic, with growth in Q4-2025 surpassing the same period in the previous three years.
Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) showed that the national economy expanded 5.39 percent year-on-year in Q4-2025, higher than 5.02 percent in Q4-2024, 4.04 percent in Q4-2023, and 5.01 percent in Q4-2022.
BPS head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti emphasized that this was the highest fourth-quarter growth since the pandemic. “Economic growth in Q4-2025 reached 5.39 percent, the highest since the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said in Jakarta on Thursday, February 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Amalia explained that nearly all business sectors recorded positive growth during the period, except for mining and quarrying, which contracted by 1.31 percent, and water supply, waste management, and recycling, which declined by 0.51 percent.
Transportation and warehousing posted the highest growth at 8.98 percent, followed by other services at 8.71 percent. Manufacturing grew 5.40 percent and contributed the largest share to overall growth, adding 1.10 percentage points.
From the expenditure side, all components expanded in Q4-2025. Gross Fixed Capital Formation rose 6.12 percent, household-serving non-profit institutions grew 5.90 percent, and household consumption increased 5.11 percent.
Government consumption rose 4.55 percent, while exports of goods and services grew 3.25 percent and imports increased 3.96 percent.
Amalia stressed that household consumption remained the backbone of the economy. “Household consumption accounts for 53.63 percent of GDP expenditure, making it the main contributor to growth,” she said.
Household consumption contributed 2.68 percentage points to overall growth, followed by investment at 1.96 percentage points.
She added that investment was the second driver of growth. “Investment grew by 6.12 percent and contributed one-third of GDP expenditure, making it the second driver of the economy in Q4-2025,” she said.
BPS reported that real GDP in Q4-2025 reached IDR 3,474 trillion, while GDP at current prices stood at IDR 6,147.2 trillion. On a quarter-to-quarter basis, the economy grew 0.86 percent.
