KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia strengthened its molasses export network on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, after a Mojokerto-based producer successfully shipped its first batch of molasses to Australia, an achievement made possible through the Trade Ministry’s Export Center Surabaya, which has been guiding small businesses on how to enter global markets.

According to Fajarini Puntodewi, Director General of National Export Development (PEN), the export marks a positive milestone for Indonesia’s emerging export-oriented villages and is expected to inspire more rural producers to develop high-quality, globally competitive products.

“The ability of CV Mitra Tata Usaha to seize market opportunities demonstrates that Indonesian products are highly competitive at the international level. We hope this milestone will pave the way for stronger and more diversified Indonesian exports to Australia,” Puntodewi said in a statement from Jakarta, on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.

This first shipment is one of the outcomes of Export Center Surabaya’s ongoing assistance programs, which help local producers access various international markets.

From January to September 2025, Indonesia’s global molasses exports reached USD 3.48 million, with major export destinations including Guinea, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Côte d'Ivoire, and Malaysia.

Puntodewi reaffirmed support for Export Center Surabaya’s efforts, which include export regulations guidance, market consultations, business matching, and product quality enhancement assistance.

These services play a crucial role in preparing Indonesian businesses, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to compete globally.

Export Centers operate under the Ministry of Trade as a strategic initiative to reach more Indonesian businesses and help them transform into exporters capable of securing international buyers.

Besides Surabaya, Export Centers are located in Balikpapan (East Kalimantan), Batam (Riau Islands), and Makassar (South Sulawesi), each helping strengthen product competitiveness in their respective regions.

“The Ministry of Trade is committed to providing comprehensive support through training, market information, international trade promotions, and certification assistance. This support aims to expand the global presence of Indonesian MSME products,” she concluded. ***
