KBRN, Jakarta: What began in a modest garage in Tundagan, Tasikmalaya, West Java, has grown into a thriving fashion enterprise with international reach. Rusman, a former employee of a state-owned bank, transformed personal tragedy into entrepreneurial purpose, founding Dthree, a Muslim family fashion brand that now exports abroad through online platforms.
After years in the banking sector, Rusman faced a life-altering loss: the passing of one of his children. The experience reshaped his priorities, prompting him to value time with family above all else. In 2019, he left his corporate comfort zone and launched Dthree, starting with a handful of gamis (loose-fitting, ankle-length garment) and matching family outfits sewn in his home garage.
Dthree’s growth has been fueled by Rusman’s embrace of digital commerce. Recognizing the importance of online presence for small businesses, he chose Shopee as the brand’s primary sales channel.
“We use nearly all Shopee features, from Shopee Ads and Shopee Live to Shopee Video. Major campaigns like double date sales boost our revenue by three to five times. Plus, the Free Shipping XTRA program really motivates customers to check out our products,” Rusman shared in Tasikmalaya on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara.
Today, Dthree has evolved into a full-fledged company with its own factory and a professional team, employing over 80 people. Its reach has expanded beyond Indonesia through Shopee’s Export Program, allowing Dthree’s products to enter international markets.
The brand name “Dthree” reflects Rusman’s guiding principles: Dagang (Commerce), Dakwah (Spiritual Outreach), and Dermawan (Generosity). “Through ‘Dermawan,’ we want this business to grow not just financially, but also to benefit the surrounding community. If we grow, the community should grow with us,” he explained.
Dthree’s achievements were further recognized when it was selected to represent Tasikmalaya in the 2025 Shopee Jagoan UMKM Naik Kelas competition, a national program that brings together top-performing small businesses across Indonesia to compete for a total prize of IDR 1 billion.
Through the program, Rusman received business training, digital marketing optimization, and opportunities to expand his network. “Shopee Jagoan UMKM taught us practical lessons, especially in branding. We learned how to transform a small business into a more professional and sustainable enterprise,” he said.
Dthree’s journey is not just a story of commercial success; it’s a testament to resilience, vision, and the courage to grow. From a small garage in Tasikmalaya to the global fashion market, Dthree proves that with determination and adaptability, dreams can become reality. ***
