KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s agro-industry attracted IDR 85.05 trillion in investment in the first half of 2025, the Industry Ministry reported on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, through continued investor interest and strong sector performance, supporting job creation and a positive trade balance.

“This sector continues to grow and attract investors, as seen from the IDR 85.05 trillion investment in H1 2025,” said Putu Juli Ardika, Acting Director General of Agro-Industry at the Industry Ministry, during the opening of the Agro-Industry Exhibition at the ministry’s headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The agro-industry sector also absorbed around 9.8 million workers, accounting for 50.26 percent of the total workforce in the non-oil and gas manufacturing industry.

In terms of trade, the sector recorded exports worth USD 37.38 billion and imports valued at USD 10.42 billion in the first half of 2025. This USD 26.96 billion trade surplus indicates a positive contribution to Indonesia’s overall manufacturing trade balance.

“This demonstrates that the agro-industry contributes significantly to the trade balance of the non-oil and gas manufacturing sector,” Putu added.

Beyond trade, the sector also made a notable contribution to Indonesia’s GDP. In H1 2025, the agro-industry accounted for 52.07 percent of non-oil and gas manufacturing GDP and 8.96 percent of national GDP, with a positive growth rate of 4.99 percent.

“The agro-industry is a strategic sector that plays a crucial role in supporting Indonesia’s economic growth,” Putu concluded. ***
