KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia's Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin visited the Vocational Education Depot of Rindam V/Brawijaya, Malang, Monday (26/5/2025). His visit aimed to inspect and brief participants of the Indonesian Development Drive Scholars (SPPI) program undergoing training.
The SPPI participants are currently attending a three-month state defense training at the military education facility in East Java. This program emphasizes patriotism, discipline, and readiness as part of the national reserve component, not military recruitment.
In a press release received Tuesday (27/5/2025), Minister Sjafrie explained the training’s focus on ethics and national loyalty. He emphasized that participants would support national development and sovereignty, assisting TNI when required.
The Defense Minister said participants are trained to support Indonesia, not to become active soldiers. He also reminded them to remember Indonesia’s history as a foundation of the nation’s civilization and pride.
