RRI.CO.ID, Pariaman - A total of 20 paintings by children affected by disasters from Pariaman City and Aceh Tamiang Regency in West Sumatra were officially exhibited in the 'Bukit Mimpi' (Hill of Dreams) showcase at KiN Space, SCBD Jakarta.
This collaborative event, initiated by the Creative Economy Ministry from September 29 to October 28, 2026, serves as a platform for collective recovery among Sumatra's younger generation to restore hope through art.
"The presence of these works by children from Pariaman City is one form of participation in strengthening the role of art and creativity as a means of recovery and community empowerment," said Pariaman Mayor, Yota Balad, in Pariaman on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
He said displaying Pariaman children's paintings at the exhibition represents an extraordinary opportunity, as children now have an expressive outlet that had not been fully channeled previously. The 10 paintings from Pariaman City are the result of mentoring by the Creative Economy Ministry conducted some time ago. In addition to these 10 works, other paintings are currently displayed at the local mayor's office.
According to him, the mentoring from the Creative Economy Ministry not only provides trauma healing for children in the aftermath of disasters, but also serves as a venue for channeling talent, creativity, and painting art potential. "Art and the creative economy can become part of the recovery process, empowerment, and strengthening of the younger generation's potential," he said, as quoted by Antara.
He conveyed that the works produced by children through the ministry's mentoring carry profound meaning and high creative value that deserve continued development.
"Therefore, we extend our highest thanks and appreciation to the Creative Economy Ministry for designating Pariaman City as a recipient of this Ekraf Peduli (Creative Economy Cares) program," he said.
Creative Economy Minister, Teuku Riefky Harsya, conveyed that the Bukit Mimpi showcase becomes a space for disaster-affected children to express themselves again while restoring hope through creativity. ***
