Mentok Tin Museum Hosts Seruni Art Fest to Engage Youth

RRI.CO.ID, Pangkalpinang - The Indonesia Tin Museum (MTI) Mentok was transformed into a creative expression space for the younger generation during the third Seruni Art Festival in West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province on Sunday, September 28, 2026.

Through dance and folk theater performances, the annual event aims to encourage young people in West Bangka to engage more deeply with their region’s history in an interactive setting within the cultural heritage site.

“This activity is not only an art performance venue but also a marketing and promotional platform for MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise) products,” said Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah (Persero) Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, in Pangkalpinang on Sunday.

She said the selection of the Indonesia Tin Museum Mentok as the venue for Seruni Art Festival III was intended to showcase the function of the historic site. The building, managed by PT Timah (Persero) Tbk, is now being utilized as a public space to develop local artistic creativity and the creative economy.

“As the manager of the Indonesia Tin Museum Mentok, PT Timah provides facilities and infrastructure support so that art activities can run smoothly,” she said, as quoted by Antara.

West Bangka Regent Markus appreciated the holding of Seruni Art Festival III, noting that art and cultural activities like this serve not only as spaces for expression but also generate economic activity for the community.

He observed that the public enthusiasm and the large number of MSME vendors selling around the event site represented potential to boost the local tourism and creative economy sectors.

“This festival is attractive to the public. Audience enthusiasm and MSME participation were evident. I saw many vendors selling, this rarely happens. This serves as a lever for our tourism,” he said.

Chairperson of Seruni Production Art Studio, Anisa Pratiwi, said the Indonesia Tin Museum Mentok was chosen as the event location because the museum is closely tied to the history of Mentok and West Bangka.

“PT Timah is part of Mentok’s history. We want the younger generation to know this history, but also to dare to express it through art,” she said.

One local MSME actor mentored by PT Timah, Rina Erzaliana, said events like Seruni Art Festival had a positive impact on her business activity.

“Thank God, with events like this, our sales turnover has increased. Hopefully, more events like this will be held in the future. Thank you to the organizers,” she said. ***
