RRI.CO.ID, Samosir - The Toba Caldera Culture Festival (TCCF) 2026 concluded its four-day celebration at Waterfront Pangururan in Samosir, North Sumatra, on Sunday, September 27, highlighting the region's rich cultural heritage, creative talent, and community-driven tourism.
Initiated by ND Management under the theme Toba Caldera Resonates: Echoes from Toba, the festival ran from September 24 to 27 as a multi-faceted cultural gathering. The event featured a public festival, Intangible Cultural Heritage exhibitions, culinary and craft markets, educational workshops, and the Samosir International Choir Competition.
"Toba Caldera Culture Festival serves as clear proof of how the cultural wealth and natural beauty of Samosir combine harmoniously to drive the creative economy," said Samosir Regent Vandiko Timotius Gultom during the event, as quoted on the Ministry of Creative Economy's official website.
Creative Economy Minister and Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) Teuku Riefky Harsya attended the closing ceremony, noting that festivals like TCCF leverage Lake Toba's status as a UNESCO Global Geopark to build economic value for local communities. The minister highlighted the festival's choral competitions as an engine for the broader creative ecosystem, benefiting arrangers, event organizers, hospitality, and local enterprise.
"I hope TCCF and the Samosir International Choir Competition can continue to grow as platforms that birth talent, strengthen the creative ecosystem, and bring the cultural richness of Toba and Indonesia to the world stage," Minister Riefky said.
TCCF Steering Committee Chair Mora Nasution expressed gratitude for the national support, noting that the festival embodies the local spirit of Marsiadapari (mutual cooperation) to empower young creators across the Lake Toba area.
The festival concluded with environmental actions, including the planting of 100 tree saplings and the release of 2,000 tilapia fish seeds into Lake Toba. Following the presentation of 27 competition awards and the North Sumatra Governor’s Grand Prix trophy, 2,000 choir participants delivered a mass performance of the traditional song O Tano Batak accompanied by a fireworks display. ***
