RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A collaborative photography exhibition featuring works from nine Latin American nations and Indonesia has opened at the National Gallery of Indonesia, serving as a platform to strengthen international cultural diplomacy and cross-border partnerships.
The Constelaciones Vivas (Living Constellations) exhibition brings together artistic contributions from Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and host nation Indonesia.
"The National Gallery of Indonesia becomes a meeting point not just for nine countries, but ten countries," said Deputy Culture Minister Giring Ganesha Djumaryo during the opening ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday, September 17, as quoted by Antara.
He emphasized that the showcased imagery offers profound visual narratives that honor the relationship between photographers and their subjects while celebrating shared global heritage.
Head of the Indonesian Museum and Heritage Agency (MCB), Indira Esti Nurjadin said that the showcase provides a space for dialogue and serves as a tool for soft diplomacy. "Through this opportunity, visitors are expected to exchange ideas and build a broader understanding of world diversity," she noted.
Speaking on behalf of the participating nations, Uruguayan Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Cristina González described the second edition of the exhibition as an essential milestone in deepening cultural ties across regions.
"Constelaciones Vivas invites us to get closer to the diverse stories that shape Latin America, while recognizing the various connections that unite us beyond geographical boundaries and differing traditions, we hope this exhibition opens new spaces for dialogue and cultural exchange between Latin America and Indonesia," González said.
The exhibition displays works from nine individual photographers and cultural institutions, including Alejandro Chaskielberg (Argentina), Desiree Harahap (Mexico/Indonesia), Federico “Fefo” Bouvier (Uruguay), Gabriel Barreto Bentín (Peru), Santiago Escobar Jaramillo (Colombia), alongside official contributions from the cultural ministries and tourism boards of Panama, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. ***
