The highlight of the multi-day event, the iconic Tournament of Flowers, featured a grand parade of 35 elaborate floats decorated exclusively with fresh, locally grown blooms harvested by regional farmers. The parade showcased Tomohon's signature endemic chrysanthemum varieties, the Krisan Kulo and Krisan Riri, transforming the city into a vibrant botanical display.
Attended by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar and North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus on Saturday, August 8, 2026, the annual festival, held continuously since 2008, also featured tourism expos, cultural art performances, and dedicated commercial exhibition zones.
Beyond serving as a major visual spectacle, TIFF 2026 operated as a high-impact economic driver. The festival facilitated direct business-to-business (B2B) matching, trade exchanges, and investment opportunities between local grower cooperatives, international buyers, and hospitality operators, generating significant revenue across North Sulawesi’s agricultural, handicraft, culinary, hotel, and transportation sectors.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar praised Tomohon for successfully projecting its municipal identity onto the global stage.
"This festival serves as a way to see how a small city like Tomohon can go global, not just as a city of flowers, but as a city with distinct specialties like Krisan Kulo and Krisan Riri, I hope that in the future, we can welcome even more domestic and international tourists here," she said in Tomohon on Saturday, August 8, 2026, as quoted on the ministry's official website.
