In the hands of creative artisans in Palu, this distinctive plant has been transformed into a motif and identity for traditional textile art with high aesthetic value, ready to make an appearance at Indonesia Fashion Week 2026.
“Certainly, the traditional Moringa Leaf textile craft of Palu City is expected to become even better known to the wider public in the future, both nationally and internationally, through Indonesia Fashion Week 2026,” said Chairperson of the Palu City Family Welfare and Empowerment Movement Team (PKK), Diah Puspita, in Palu on Monday, August 3, 2026.
She said Palu’s participation in the event would not only serve as a cultural promotion platform, but also open greater opportunities for local artisans to improve product quality.
“We hope this can expand marketing networks and strengthen the competitiveness of creative industries based on local wisdom in Palu City,” she said, as quoted by Antara.
She added that the city continues to encourage innovation and the development of local crafts so they can become a source of pride and identity for Palu. This step is expected to have a real impact on improving the welfare of local artisans and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
According to her, the Ulos Simetria outfit, which combines Ulos fabric with Palu Kriyawastra Moringa weaving, has become a symbol of the harmony of Indonesia’s traditional textiles. The work shows that each traditional cloth can blend beautifully without losing its own character and identity.
“Each piece of cloth is not merely a work of art, but also holds a story, cultural value, and the dedication of artisans that deserve our appreciation,” she said.
Diah said every piece of traditional cloth not only has aesthetic value, but also contains stories, philosophy, and the dedication of artisans who have preserved cultural heritage from generation to generation. ***
